Deviantart safe for an iPhone?

YES. I've been a member on DA for a few years and never had a problem. I have had the iphone DA app, but recently upgraded to the HTC Inspire and have my DA app on there also. I also have "LOOKOUT" antivirus applilcation. You can pretty much get a virus wherever you go on any phone or PC over the web. Just be careful.
