Family issues! Please help!!?

Ok so my mom is a 'hoarder', she isnt nearly ad bad as the ones you see on tv but she is bad enough to where we cant have people over (ranging from friends to even someone to fix our air conditioning). My mom is known for her mood swings ( well known only amongst my family) she can one day be the funniest, sweetest person and the next day be saying how horrible you are. My dad is the best, he realizes how she is and he is my best friend, but there is not much we can do because she gets furious at the idea of us getting a cleaning crew in the house. My dad has to get knee surgery this fall but he can't make any headway on it until the house is cleaned ( because of the recovery process and nurses coming to our house) My mom and dad don't get along so that's why she isn't cleaning the house for his well being. I know my dad has to get this surgery and I'm willing to have my mom mad at me for his health. My dad and I were thinking of sending my mom and sister (who agrees with us) on a trip this summer and while they are gone getting a cleaning Crew in the house. Do you think it's worth it? How should we/I deal with my mom once she gets back? Should we do it at all?
