Should i be more upset?

ive been dating this guy long distance for a little over a month. Hes in a "crew", basically a gang. he's pretty violent and gets in lots of fight. he's under house arrest right now for getting in a big group fight. my friends say i should be afraid that he'll hurt me or get me hurt because he'll piss some one off then go after me cause im his gf. it doesnt upset me that hes in a "crew". i keep getting told to break things off cause things will end badly. but i dont want to cause i love him. is it weird that this doesnt upset me? also do you think i should break up with him or stay since it doesnt bother me? oh and we're both young(16)
