About 1976 or 1977 I was an extra in a western made for TV series?

I cannot remember the title of the show but I remember it was a six part series that cancelled after the second show. It was really horrendous. One of the main actors was named Rob or Rod. The series was about a wagon train and the trials they went through, it co starred a couple of kids as well (as an extra and a kid myself, I thought the main child actors were extremely snobbish and nasty). Ive been looking for it on you tube to watch to see if I can spot myself but havent been able to find it. Anyone have any idea what the name of this series was and if its around anywhere?
