Will our friendship recover from this please help !?

i was close friends with a guy and we got on so well, worked together everyday. i helped him out when he was in trouble etc. i noticed he told lies about his status, like he had a flash sports car, property abroad etc when in reality he had none of these anyway i liked him as a person and he was good company. fast forward to this year and the lies have got worse and recently he got scammed by a girl online and i warned him. we had a big row as he said i didnt trust him. i ended the friendship because i felt there was no other way. we spoke tonight via text-it was strained but i still have to work with him so what do i do ? i still love him to bits but the atmospheres horrendous and theres still the lying problem which he'll never admit to what should i do please help me
